Administrator’s Musings

As we start our new year, let’s be positive in our actions and communications.  We have a new Governor, Al Schran, and let’s give him all the support that we can muster.  Look for some changes in the next year that will improve our lodge.

We will be looking for chairmen for the various committees.  Please say yes when you are asked.  We will be also looking for chairmen for the special projects that will be coming up, such as painting, carpet, drapes, retaining walls, changing the wall paper and other projects.  Remember, “A burden heavy for one is borne lightly by many”.

Participation at our Friday and Saturday night functions is still on the light side.  Would some of you consider forming an Entertainment Committee to select a theme, a menu, a cook and appropriate music?  We could also use some volunteers to help serve the meals as we have only one team that does the serving.  We at one time had five teams and no one got “burned out”.

Please be aware that our dinner prices include 9.25% in sales taxes.  On a $15.00 dinner the tax is $1.27, $17.50 dinner $1.48 and a $20.00 dinner $1.69.  This money passes through to the state and as such we do not get any benefit.

Is there someone out there who would like to learn to be a bartender?  There are only three of us (myself included).

We are going to strive to reactivate our Moose Legion Committee and have some functions and attend the quarterly celebrations and have some fun.  We also need to attend our district meetings on the first Saturdays of the month.  I will do the driving if you want to see what goes on at the meetings.

We are going to reactivate our donor boards that are in the Social Quarters.  These boards are to recognize those individuals who have contributed funds to the building fund and also to remember those who have passed before us.  There are $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 and $500.00 boards.  For instance, Winifred Davies contributed $100.00 in memory of Lou Rasmusson so a name plate will be placed on the $100.00 board.  Thank you, Win.  The WOTM contributed $20.00 in memory of Lou.  Thank you ladies.
